Welcome to my world - Austin to London -
also known as Texpatriating...

Greetings!  In as much as life is a journey, some journeys are an adventure and some are just plodding along, one foot in front of the other.  Most days are the latter, but the day my husband (henceforth, the Canadian) and I decided to expatriate to the UK, our day to day groceries, dog-feeding, semi-normal in a dysfunctional family life, suddenly became an adventure.

More on how that occurred on the blog.

This site is for all of you expats out there -- those about to, those that are, those that have in the past, those that are secretly expats in their hearts and voraciously read expat magazines -- and those that have no desire to EVER leave their tiny corner of the world but somehow through a series of clicks found their way here and just stopped in to see what the hell is Texpatriating.

I hope you will make yourself a cup of tea (a love affair of mine that began when I visited the UK for the first time in 1994 as a teenager), have a seat, and browse.  In the blog you will read about my pitfalls and successes but I have also included on this site lots of links as I come across them, that hopefully will help make your own transition go much more smoothly. I also blog a lot about food (recipes, restaurants, etc.) so if you're an expat who's into culinary experiences -- all the better.  Join the adventure!

The Goods....

About Me: Native Texan, born on Texas Independence Day.  Working on a Ph.D., married to a Canadian who Texpatriated (a verb meaning to expatriate to or from Texas) in 2002 from Ontario.  We met, married, and are now on the next leg of our journey/adventure.

We have one, occasionally brilliant mostly rotten, half Siberian Husky half German Shepherd.

I love tea, music of all kinds (anything from Vivaldi to Bauhaus/Peter Murphy) and I, unfortunately, know far too much 80's music trivia.  I have been a James Bond fan since I was very young.  I know all of the Bonds and their nationalities.  My favorite?  All of them (except George Lazenby), for different reasons - this can only be discussed over wine.  Speaking of wine, I love that too. And art.  And art with wine.
